How to Land Solana Transactions Reliably

TL;DR

  • - Fetch a fresh blockhash immediately before signing
  • - Set priority fees based on recent fee data
  • - Retry with the same signed transaction until lastValidBlockHeight
  • - Use sendTransaction with skipPreflight for speed
  • - Monitor with getSignatureStatuses, not confirmTransaction

Landing a transaction on Solana means getting it included in a confirmed block. The network processes thousands of transactions per second, and when demand exceeds capacity, some transactions are dropped.

Why transactions fail to land

Transactions can fail to land for several reasons: the blockhash expires before inclusion, priority fees are too low during congestion, the transaction is sent to a node far from the current leader, or the preflight check adds latency.

Blockhash strategy

Fetch the blockhash with getLatestBlockhash using confirmed commitment immediately before signing. The response includes lastValidBlockHeight — use it to know when to stop retrying.

Priority fees

Set compute unit price based on getRecentPrioritizationFees. A higher fee improves your position in the scheduler queue during congestion.

Retry logic

Re-send the same signed transaction every 2-3 seconds until either:

  • getSignatureStatuses shows the transaction as confirmed, or
  • the current block height exceeds lastValidBlockHeight.

If the block height expires, fetch a new blockhash and re-sign.

FAQ

What is a good transaction landing rate? It varies by network conditions. During normal load, well-configured transactions land above 95%. During congestion, the rate drops and priority fees become critical.

Does skipping preflight help? Yes. skipPreflight: true removes one round trip, sending the transaction directly to the TPU. The trade-off is that you don’t get a simulation error before sending.

What is the Solana transaction landing service? Some providers offer dedicated transaction sending services optimized for landing rate. These use staked connections, direct TPU forwarding, and regional optimization.
