Jito Tip Payment — Program ID & Overview
T1pyyaTNZsKv2WcRAB8oVnk93mLJw2XzjtVYqCsaHqt The Jito Tip Payment program manages tips paid to Jito validators for bundle inclusion priority. When submitting transactions through Jito’s block engine, a tip to one of the designated tip accounts incentivizes the validator to include your bundle with higher priority.

Tip accounts
Jito maintains a set of 8 tip accounts. Tips should be sent to a randomly selected account from this set to distribute load. The tip accounts rotate, so fetch the current list from Jito’s API.
const tipAccounts = await fetch("https://mainnet.block-engine.jito.wtf/api/v1/bundles", {
method: "POST",
headers: { "Content-Type": "application/json" },
body: JSON.stringify({
jsonrpc: "2.0",
id: 1,
method: "getTipAccounts",
params: [],
}),
}).then(r => r.json());
How tipping works
- Build your transaction(s) as a bundle.
- Add a tip instruction as the last instruction in the last transaction.
- The tip is a simple SOL transfer to one of the Jito tip accounts.
- Submit the bundle to Jito’s block engine.
import { SystemProgram, PublicKey } from "@solana/web3.js";
const tipAccount = new PublicKey(tipAccounts[Math.floor(Math.random() * tipAccounts.length)]);
const tipIx = SystemProgram.transfer({
fromPubkey: wallet.publicKey,
toPubkey: tipAccount,
lamports: 10_000, // tip amount in lamports
});
// Add tipIx as the LAST instruction in the LAST transaction of your bundle
Tip amount guidelines
| Scenario | Typical tip |
|---|---|
| Standard transaction | 1,000 – 10,000 lamports |
| Time-sensitive swap | 10,000 – 100,000 lamports |
| Competitive arbitrage | 100,000 – 1,000,000+ lamports |
| Token launch snipe | 1,000,000+ lamports |
Tip amounts are dynamic and depend on competition. During high-demand periods, higher tips increase the probability of inclusion.
FAQ
Do I need to use the Tip Payment program directly? Not usually. Most integrations simply add a SOL transfer instruction to a Jito tip account. The Tip Payment program manages the distribution of collected tips to validators.
What happens if my bundle fails but the tip is paid? Jito bundles are atomic: either all transactions in the bundle land, or none do. If any transaction fails, the entire bundle (including the tip) is reverted. You only pay the tip on success.
How do I choose the tip amount?
Start with the minimum tip returned by Jito’s getRecentPrioritizationFees or tip floor endpoints. Increase based on competition and time sensitivity. Overpaying wastes SOL; underpaying risks the bundle not being included.
