Pump.fun — Program ID & Overview
6EF8rrecthR5Dkzon8Nwu78hRvfCKubJ14M5uBEwF6P Pump.fun is a token launchpad on Solana that uses a bonding curve to bootstrap new token markets. Anyone can create a token for a minimal fee, and trading begins instantly on the bonding curve. When the market cap reaches a threshold, liquidity migrates to a DEX (PumpSwap or Raydium).

How the bonding curve works
- Token creation: A new SPL token is minted with a fixed total supply (typically 1 billion).
- Bonding curve phase: Tokens are bought and sold along a predetermined curve. Price increases as more tokens are bought.
- Graduation: When the bonding curve reaches its SOL threshold (approximately 85 SOL collected), the token graduates. Liquidity is migrated to PumpSwap (or Raydium) and the bonding curve is closed.

Key instructions
| Instruction | Description |
|---|---|
Create | Creates a new token with bonding curve |
Buy | Buys tokens on the bonding curve (SOL → token) |
Sell | Sells tokens on the bonding curve (token → SOL) |
Withdraw | Migrates liquidity to DEX on graduation |
Monitoring new tokens
const PUMP_FUN = new PublicKey("6EF8rrecthR5Dkzon8Nwu78hRvfCKubJ14M5uBEwF6P");
connection.onLogs(PUMP_FUN, (logs) => {
if (logs.logs.some(log => log.includes("Create"))) {
console.log("New token created:", logs.signature);
}
});
Trading on the bonding curve
Buying and selling on the bonding curve requires sending instructions directly to the Pump.fun program. The price is deterministic based on the current supply sold.
Key accounts for a buy/sell instruction:
- Bonding curve account (PDA derived from mint)
- Associated bonding curve token account
- User’s token account
- User’s SOL (system) account
FAQ
How much does it cost to create a token on Pump.fun? Token creation costs approximately 0.02 SOL for account rent and transaction fees.
What happens after graduation? The bonding curve closes permanently. All collected SOL and remaining tokens are deposited as liquidity on PumpSwap (or Raydium). Trading continues on the DEX. The bonding curve program no longer handles swaps for that token.
Can I sell back to the bonding curve after graduation? No. Once a token graduates, the bonding curve is closed. All trading happens on the DEX where liquidity was migrated.
How do I detect graduation programmatically?
Monitor the Pump.fun program logs for the Withdraw instruction, which indicates liquidity migration. The bonding curve account’s state also changes to indicate completion.
